Sunday Night Football New Intro – Game On – Gloves Off

Twitter Roasts Carrie Underwood’s new tune.

First, SNF on NBC deserves a ton of credit for finally changing the damn intro song rather than rewriting for the hundredth time.

It all started with the SNF twitter handle tweeting this out.

So there it is. If it gets pulled, the YouTube version is posted below.

This is Carrie Underwood’s sixth season singing the opening intro since replacing Faith Hill in 2013.

And here is Twitter doing what Twitter does. Roasting.

Some called it “lazy songwriting,” and “just going through the motions.”

Some people probably wouldn’t be happy no matter how good or bad the actual song was.

But, as with everything on the internet, there are opposing opinions

And this one:

Here are a few facts about the song. It was co-written by Chris DeStefano, Brett James, and Carrie Underwood. The trio also was involved in the last song “Oh, Sunday Night.” along with another co-writer, Priscilla Renea.

The song was co-produced by Chris DeStefano and Mark Bright and the video package was directed by the excellent Tripp Dixon (VP for Creative Direction NBC Sports). Dixon said, “Carrie brought us the song, and it kind of inspired us to go out to the soundstage. Any time you work with a big star like Carrie and combine it with the NFL’s best, you know it’s going to be big, and you know it’s going to be fun.”

What do we think?

Shoot it’s hard to write a song that is safe for network, explains getting up for a game, but is also completely original. We think people will like it more as the year goes along.

Just don’t ask Twitter
